Romeo Pyramid by Romeo y Juileta… #3 ranked smoke by Cigar Aficionado

I am always  pumped to try all the cigars that make Cigar Aficionado’s top 10 list each year. A lot of times they bring attention to smokes that I was reluctant to try for some reason…. sometimes its the brand’s reputation, the appearance of the cigar, or feedback from other cigar buddies and experts. I was pleasantly surprised by the #1 cigar, the Flor de las Antillas, but didnt have the same feedback for the Romeo by Rome y Juileta. (Click Here to see my post on CA’s #1 cigar)

At first appearance, I really like the idea of this cigar. The Romeo has a dark oily wrapper that is extremely hearty. I love the pyramid size that received the highest ranking and was happy to find some at my local shop. (Click here to see more about Ol’ Times Cigars)

When I first lit the cigar I noticed vey little flavor and was hoping that it would quickly develop…like it usually does with other smokes. I did not get any great taste or spice as the cigar continued to burn.I found myself searching for different elements but it seemed to be a little boring. On the positive side…It was very well made and burned great. I think I had my expectations a little high based on the #3 ranking.romeo y julieta cigar

In conclusion… I can not give a 100% recommendation. There wasn’t anything really wrong with the construction or idea of this cigar. I just wasn’t a huge fan of the flavor. Always worth you giving it a try to see if you get better feedback…especially at the reasonable $7 price. I’ll probably go for round two to see if I missed something. Feel free to post any of your thougthts if you get to smoke one soon!
